Rampages
Client: none
For: Trevor Philips
A Rampage is a mass shootout that starts when Trevor picks a fight with a group somewhere on the map.
During a Rampage, a red tint stays on the screen even if the special ability is never used.
Enemies come in packs, but each one has very low health and very low damage.
Watch out: a Ballas RPG, a Rhino’s main gun, or a charging enemy vehicle can put you in the bleed-out state or kill you.
In a Rampage the weapon is one taken from them, not your own, so mods and tints do not apply.
A gold medal requires all three gold conditions for that Rampage.
The Red Mist achievement unlocks when every Rampage is complete.
The Solid Gold, Baby! achievement unlocks after 70 gold medals on story missions and Strangers and Freaks.
Rampage: Rednecks
- Overview
- Enemies: rednecks
- Weapons: Assault Rifle, 25 grenades
- Goal: kill 25 rednecks in 2 minutes.
- How it plays
- Start: after the argument, Trevor takes a redneck’s Assault Rifle and the Rampage begins.
- First two: the two who started the fight run once you take the gun. You can kill them or let them go.
- Approach: Trevor’s special makes the target easy.
- Gold medal
- Kills: 45
- Headshots: 3
- Destroyed: 2 vehicles.
Rampage: Vagos
- Overview
- Enemies: Vagos
- Weapons: Micro SMG, 25 grenades
- Goal: kill 30 Vagos in 2 minutes.
- How it plays
- Start: after the argument, Trevor takes one member’s Micro SMG and the Rampage begins.
- Magazine: the Micro SMG starts with 15 rounds per mag.
- An extended mag from Ammu-Nation before you start makes it easier.
- Watch out
- Molotovs: Vagos on the roofs sometimes throw them. Move.
- Gold medal
- Kills: 45
- Headshots: 6
- Destroyed: 2 vehicles.
Rampage: Ballas
- Overview
- Enemies: Ballas
- Weapons: Assault Rifle, 25 grenades
- Goal: kill 30 Ballas in 2 minutes.
- How it plays
- Start: after the argument, Trevor takes one member’s Assault Rifle and the Rampage begins.
- Roofs: gang members also shoot from the rooftops.
- Watch out
- RPG: one of the rooftop members fires an RPG.
- Gold medal
- Kills: 50
- Headshots: 6
- Destroyed: 2 vehicles.
Rampage: Military
- Overview
- Enemies: the military
- Location: the highway near Fort Zancudo.
- Weapons: Assault Rifle, Grenade Launcher, 25 grenades
- Goal: kill 35 soldiers in 3 minutes.
- Timer: this is the only Rampage with an extra minute.
- How it plays
- Start: after the argument, Trevor picks up the Grenade Launcher in the Crusader’s bed and the Rampage begins.
- Reinforcements: Crusaders and Barracks keep arriving as you kill soldiers, plus two Rhinos.
- Rhino: you cannot steal and drive the tank.
- Grenade Launcher: this is the only Rampage where a Grenade Launcher can be used.
- They only arrive in vehicles. Blow the vehicle with the Grenade Launcher after it stops, before the soldiers get out, and you clear the group at once.
- The Rhino’s rear armor is weaker than the front. Hit it from behind.
- Watch out
- Tank gun: use the special so a Rhino shell does not kill you.
- After you finish: attacking a soldier or a military vehicle after the Rampage ends can still raise a wanted level.
- Unlocks after you finish
- Vehicle: the open-top Canis Crusader at the start is a rare vehicle you can only get from this Rampage. If it is still intact when the Rampage ends, you can store it in a garage.
- Gold medal
- Kills: 45
- Headshots: 6
- Destroyed: 2 tanks
- Approach: do not only use the Grenade Launcher. Soldiers who have already dismounted need Assault Rifle headshots.
Rampage: Hipsters
- Overview
- Enemies: hipsters
- Location: the café in Mirror Park.
- Weapons: Sawed-Off Shotgun, 25 grenades
- Goal: kill 20 hipsters in 2 minutes.
- How it plays
- Start: after the argument, Trevor grabs the Sawed-Off Shotgun under the table and the Rampage begins.
- Their vehicles: some arrive in a Weeny Issi, a Faggio, or a fixed-gear bike (Fixter).
- Watch out
- Rams: some hipsters on bikes try to run Trevor down. Dodge, or tank it with the special.
- Unlocks after you finish
- Vehicle: the fixed-gear bike (Fixter) the hipsters ride can only be obtained in this mission.
- Gold medal
- Kills: 30
- Headshots: 10
- Destroyed: 2 vehicles.
- Approach: the Sawed-Off Shotgun is a shotgun with a wide spread, so headshots are hard.
- A melee strike with the butt at close range still counts as a headshot. Use that for the headshot goal when you can.
